Name: Sydney Edwards
Education: Bachelor’s degree from University of Central Florida
Why did you start your company?
I just graduated from college and wanted to do something that I was really interested in and would enjoy doing. There was nothing like this in South Florida.
What skills or talents do you need to do this position?
You just need to be willing to work very hard. We are constantly learning and finding newer and better ways to do things.
Who is your favorite designer (or fashion house)?
My favorite designer is Rachel Zoe, I started following her when she started out as a stylist and I just die for her fashion.
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
What does an average day for you look like? What does your every day job entail?
An average day for me is insane. I go to work at Exposed every day at 8:30, and depending on if we have events or not, I leave anywhere between 6:00pm -11:00pm. After that, I have to get caught up on Trendy Truck stuff. There is a lot involved with reaching out to people. I have to search for upcoming events, find new brands to carry, and answer emails.
What has been your biggest challenge with your company or your position?
The biggest challenge so far has been learning to drive the truck!
What is the craziest thing that has ever happened to you at Trendy Trucks or within the fashion industry?
I think the craziest thing so far has just been how much people LOVE the concept and how excited they are when they see the truck, especially men!
What would surprise others about you or your company?
I think that it would surprise people that this whole idea literally just happened overnight. After college, I never thought that I would do anything like this. My mom came to me with the idea and we just went with it.
What advice would you give someone who wants to open an apparel boutique?
Go for it!
