I spent most of 1997-2003 abusing my hair with permanent hair color. Every 4-6 weeks I would saturate my entire head (from root to tip) with 2-3 boxes of grocery store bought color. (BTW, I was only supposed to apply the color to my roots.) Now ladies, please don’t duplicate the hair color sin of coloring your hair from root to tip every time you color. Although my color looked vibrant and fabulous, my napps were always super dry because I didn’t believe in following the directions listed on the box.
My hair color staple at the time was Loreal Feria Copper Blonde. I used this Feria color every 4-weeks. I would also use Jazzing and Adore semi permanent color rinses in addition to the permanent hair color. I used the rinses to deposit different hues of red, brown, and pink onto my hair every week after I shampooed.
I loved the hair color rinses because I could change my hair color whenever I felt like it. Adore and Jazzing rinses were awesome because they were both super cheap (around $3 bucks at the time) and both brands had wonderfully vibrant colors. (By the way, Adore had a much better color selection than Jazzing, but Jazzing had better staying power on my hair)
My routine at the time was to shampoo, apply color rinse, cover with plastic cap, sit under hot dryer for 30 mins, rinse out the color, deep condition, and style. I never got bored with my hair during this nutty hair color phase.
I also had to use the Aphogee 2-step treatment for damaged hair every two months. Aphogee helped me to keep my hair strong while I abused the crap out of it with color.
I am not a beautician, but I’ve made lots of mistakes with hair color. If you have any questions please ask.
